SkyCenter One at Tampa International Airport (TPA)

Overview

SkyCenter One, a nine-story, 275,000-square-foot Class A office building, serves as a cornerstone of Tampa International Airport’s (TPA) development strategy. This LEED Platinum-certified facility showcases TPA’s commitment to operational excellence and sustainability. SkyCenter One offers modern amenities including a fitness center, café, and conference rooms, setting a new standard for office spaces. SkyCenter One was awarded an Excellence in Construction Award by the Association of Building Contractors Gulf Coast Chapter

ACCI was entrusted with the complete technology scope of this landmark project, spanning three key phases:

  1. Atrium Phase: Delivered foundational systems in partnership with Hensel Phelps.
  2. Core and Shell with Parking Garage: Designed and implemented technology infrastructure in collaboration with JE Dunn Construction.
  3. Interior Buildout of HCAA Offices: Finalized mission-critical spaces for the Network Operations Center (NOC) and Emergency Operations Center (EOC).

ACCI’s Role

ACCI played a pivotal role in designing and implementing the technology infrastructure required to meet the project’s operational, security, and sustainability objectives.

  • Structured Cabling: Installed robust Category 6A and fiber optic cabling, ensuring scalability, redundancy, and reliability for mission-critical systems.
  • HCAA Offices: Delivered state-of-the-art technology for the NOC and EOC, supporting high-availability requirements with advanced communications and audiovisual solutions.
  • Core and Shell with Parking Garage: Designed and implemented communication pathways and security systems, integrating seamlessly with the building’s framework.
  • Security and AV Systems: Provided advanced access control, video surveillance, and audiovisual setups for critical areas, ensuring operational security and efficiency.
  • Sustainability Alignment: Integrated energy-efficient technology solutions to meet LEED Platinum certification standards.

Challenges and Solutions

  • Multi-Phase Coordination: ACCI successfully managed transitions between construction phases, maintaining continuity and alignment with evolving project timelines.
  • Mission-Critical Technology: Assist in the Design of systems for the NOC and EOC with redundancy, robust security, and high availability to support operational demands.
  • Sustainability Goals: Delivered eco-friendly systems and materials, supporting the building’s environmental benchmarks. Reduced the on site waste by ordering materials in bulk packaging and recycling waste.
  • ACCI utilized our local facility to stage and pre-test critical infrastructure pieces, reducing failures and on site preparation time.

Outcome
SkyCenter One stands as a landmark of modern, sustainable design and operational excellence. ACCI’s involvement across all phases ensured seamless integration of advanced technology systems that support mission-critical operations and long-term scalability. This project highlights ACCI’s ability to manage complex, large-scale projects with precision, collaboration, and innovation.
