Candidate Must be able to perform the following tasks:
- Technician will adhere to and participate in all Company, customer and industry quality and safety standards and regulations.
- Installing and terminating copper cat5e, cat6, and other category cables.
- Installing, terminating, splicing, testing Fiber optic cables is a plus
- Installing Wireless access points
- Installing support structures and building pathways; J-Hooks, cable tray, Arlington loops
- Technician will install a work area outlet for on walls, in modular furniture, and in ceiling. WAO to be terminated CAT 6 & CAT 6A. Mount face plates and surface mount boxes correctly.
- Technician will build closets (Mount and install backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic and hardware).
- Install grounding for racks, equipment and cable as required.
- Complete all IDC connections (e.g. terminate 110/66 blocks and patch panels).
- Technician performs testing: continuity test horizontal and riser cable; use of volt-ohmmeter; troubleshoot opens, crosses, shorts and transpose pairs on horizontal and riser cable; use a tone set.
- Perform Certification Testing using a Fluke DSX 8000 Certification Device
- Perform OTDR Testing on Fiber Optic Links
- Interpret OTDR results and make recommendations for repair based on results
- Experience installing analog CCTV systems and DVR's, CCTV IP Camera's, Access control systems, intercom systems, Networking equipment, wireless point-to-point, switches, and routers all a plus
Candidates should possess the following:

- Technician must be self-motivated, positive in approach, and professional.
- Technician must possess proven problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively read, write, follow diagrams and instructions.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 2-3 years of experience in relative industry/ previous experience a plus
- Technician must be able to work at heights and in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds.
- Technician must be able to see and distinguish different colors, read small print and hear and recognize audible signals such as dial tones.
- Technician must be able to travel to project locations within 75 miles of Tampa on an as needed basis.
- Preferred candidate willing to travel out of state when needed
- Candidates must have a valid state driver’s license and non-negligent driving record.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States.
- Satisfactory results from a background/employment history investigation and drug screening.
- Must know how to read blueprints, schematics, lay outs
- Must have own hand tools
- Must be able to work independently or as a team.
Screwdrivers (regular and Phillips), drywall saw, torpedo level, tape measure, snips (with belt sheath), pliers (needle nose and channel locks), hammer, cable stripper, flashlight, and gloves. Punch tool with 110 block and 66 block blade, tone set, 6/8 position combo crimp tool, and butt set, volt-ohmmeter, 4-pair continuity tester.
